Song Rules and Procedures

QUALIFICATIONS

• Contestants must be at least 15 years of age (as of November 20, 2009) in order to compete.
• Registration and any applicable entry fees or materials must be received by the deadline listed above in order to be eligible to compete in the National Competition.
• Songwriter cannot be currently signed to or affiliated with any publishing company, the only exception being if that publishing company was started by the songwriter.

SONG SUBMISSION PROCESS

• You may enter a maximum of 2 songs, at $25 per song entered.  Regardless of the number of entries, no contestant
  will win more than one prize.
• Songs should NOT exceed four minutes and thirty seconds (4:30) in length.
• Songs cannot be owned by or affiliated with any publishing company, in part or as a whole.
  
  
• The following must be submitted and received on or before December 21, 2009 by 5:30 PM CST:

• Song Submission Form mailed to Gospel Music Association with all applicable fees (found here)
• Mail completed form with payment to:

• Once payment and submission form are received, an email will be sent to you with instructions on where
  to send your song(s) and typed lyric sheets.
• You are welcome to send your song recorded on a CD and your typed lyric sheet (one page per song) with your paid registration.
  If you are submitting multiple songs, please include a separate CD for each song and write your name and the name of the song on the front of the CD.


• One Grand Prize winner and two Runner-Up winners will be chosen and announced by January 19, 2010. Winners
  will be contacted via email by GMA.


• The Grand Prize winner will receive:
  
  
• One free registration to GMA’s Immerse event in July 2010
• Automatic semi-final place in the Immerse song contest
• Single song publishing agreement with Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing
• CD stack from Christian music’s top names
• Opportunity to be featured on a worship compilation CD from Great Worship Songs


• The 2 runner up winners will receive:
  
  
• One free registration to GMA’s Immerse event in July 2010
• CD stack from Christian music’s top names


• Each song submission will also receive an individualized critique by one of the Brentwood-Benson judges, complete with invaluable
  feedback and advice. It's not just a contest; it's a chance to learn something, too!


• Judging Criteria:
• Judges will be selected by GreatWorshipSongs.com and the GMA Competition Coordinator.
• Throughout the competition, song(s) will be judged on the following: Originality, Music/Melody, Musical
  Hook, Lyrical Hook, Marketability, and the Overall Concept
• ALL decisions made GreatWorshipSongs.com and its selected judges will be FINAL.
